There are various causes of conflict. Poverty is said to be breeding ground for any conflict. Incompatible goals, values, perceptions, opinions etc. are the causes of conflicts. Causes of conflict can be divided in four broad categories.
1. Economic causes: Poverty, unemployment, natural resources, greed, Uneven development
2. Social/Cultural/Religious causes: ethnic differences, religious differences, social inequalities and discriminations, values, culture, legal issues, social exploitation and exclusion
3. Political causes: differences in ideologies, legal issues, constitution, power, representation etc.
4. Psychological causes: stigma and stereotypes, embedded enemy images, attitude etc.
5. Environmental Causes: environmental degradation, global warming, pollution etc.
