1. Types of Cultural change
From 1920 onwards, cultural change was studied and the academia presents three theories related to cultural change.
Acculturation: It is a process in which two different groups will keep continuous contact and groups burrow each other cultures weather it is desirable or not.
Assimilation: According to this theory, people of lower culture will burrow the culture from the upper culture in order to become similar.
Amalgamation: Every culture has good parts. Therefore, one culture burrows good cultural traits from the other cultures for betterment. Many groups will burrow different culture from different groups which creates change in the whole.
2. Forces of cultural change
External (Exogenous and Endogenous) Forces: Tourism is one of the exogenous force which impacts on traditional society. Media immediately impacts on the attitude and the behavior of the people. eg. fashion
Endogenous: Education will bring rapid change and transformation. Modern medicine, road constructions, other development works, activism tend to create change in the society.
Internal (Autogenous) Forces:
Invention of new ideas to fulfill the necessities of the people brings automatic changes in the culture of the society.
